The very first program organised was the Student orientation
program that enabled the students to know more about the
beneficiaries of NSS and how they could take part in
society’s well-being as a good engineer. And they were
acquainted with the basics of NSS programmes.
Unfortunately the most devastating Kerala flood stroke out
during this particular month and as we all know
Chengannuur was badly affected during this calamity and
our college came to be a valuable shelter for more than 2000
people .And we are so much privileged that we took part in
most of the rehabilitation works .None of the volunteers
cared about their own lives and was sincerely ready to serve
people in spite of considering day or night. That’s the unity
of NSS volunteers and this was the major headlines in most
of the newspapers and Medias.
All the latter events was co related with flood that includes
Campus Cleaning(post flood relief),Drinking water survey,
Swacha Pakwada(Railway Station) ,Post Flood relief Survey
which brought out information’s regarding how much the
flood was badly affected to the common lives.
On behalf of Gandhi Jayanti, the whole college premises
were cleaned up and the area was enhanced by our little
contributions of cleaning.
ALL KERALA PESS COLLOQIUM was conducted in our
college and on this auspicious days, all the NSS volunteers
worked together to clean up and modify the entire college
into a brighter one.
The motto of NSS is ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’. In regardance
with it we found out a major issue happened to one of our
colleague and our NSS unit came forward to resolve this
issue that’s to build up a new house for him which was
entirely lost during the time of flood. This came to be the
most superior event of NSS unit during this academic yearSAHAPADIKK ORU VEED.
In concern with this event Flash mobs were conducted and
all those kind efforts of all the teachers, volunteers helped in
laying out the foundation of the building.
We’re planning to complete the building works by May and
most probably we will hand it over by May itself.
Another major Campus cleaning and Survey was conducted
on republic day. The survey focused on ‘HARITHA KERALAM’ and creating awareness to households about
waste management and water treatment.
7 days of happiness, joy ,mesmerising events and group
effort was the overall experience regarding 7 days special
camp ‘KARMA 2K19’ .This was conducted at Puliyoor Block
Panchayath Office. The main activities carried out in this
camp were PUNARJANI (NSS volunteers gave a new lease
of life to an animal dispensary), SAHAPADIKK ORU VEED,
MEDICAL CAMP etc. These were the three major projects
and all of them were a great achievement. The camp was
meant to inculcate leadership qualities in the volunteers and
to groom them into better human beings.
The next most auspicious event was the establishment of an
NSS corner in our college premises with the permission of
Principal and other officials. About 20 volunteers participated
in cleaning the area. There is a garden containing a pond
nearly in which weeds grown weirdly covering the pond due
to lack of proper maintenance. The pond was cleaned and
painted.
Certain other events like Ozone Day, Cyber Cell Awareness
class, Traffic Awareness Class, SVEEP program, Unanth
Bharath Abhiyan Survey, Salute for the young blood,
Shilpashala, Jilla stadium construction, Vimukthi, Palliative
care program were organised.
A Mega Medical Camp was organised that provided the
necessary medicines and diagnosis for more than 500 people.
The camp was inaugurated by Saji Cherian, MLA
Chengannuur.
o A lot more interesting and socially relevant events are
coming forward. All the programs conducted by our
unit tries to enhance the society as a whole. We had a
lot of support from various nooks and corner of the
society. We express our sincere thanks and gratitude to
all those who showed light in our path.
